BP, Nicotras help Staten Island mom ‘Go Gold’ to call attention to childhood cancer

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — As previously reported, parents who have lost children to cancer or whose lives were affected by it had requested of the Empire State Building’s “Lighting Partner” program to light its spire for the cause. They were turned down, despite the fact that the building has been lit to highlight numerous other special causes.

Thus, the Empire Go Gold movement was born, gaining momentum from other boroughs and Long Island for buildings to be lit gold in the month of September.
