“Staten Island, NY–There are many Girl Scouts on Staten Island doing amazing things in the community. The first troop serving our community with a wonderful service project is troop 5705 led by Laura Driscoll. Every year, the girls in troop 5705 go to Resurrection Cemetery and place flags on the veteran’s tombstones in honor of their service and dedication to our country.

Sophia Mezzacappa has been a girl scout since she was in the second grade and still continues to look forward to their meetings and special service projects.

Doing this project, and being a Girl Scout in general, helps me to grow as a person and helps me to understand my civic responsibilities,” shared Sophia.”
