What makes a good burger?
As with most topics, opinions vary wildly on Staten Island, so we asked you to weigh in with your picks. Then we went hunting for the borough’s best beef patties, sticking with small operations as opposed to mega-chains or fancy franchises.
Our ideal burger: One with a super beefy taste, a hand-packed meat portion that’s cooked to medium rare with a slight crust on the outside, smothered with a generous amount of cheese, caramelized onions and fresh cut, sautéed mushrooms. That “ideal” is served on a soft, slightly toasted bun.
