When you’re on the job in an office complex, it’s tough to beat a brief elevator ride and a short walk, when you’re looking for a place to eat.

At the Teleport, lucky workers in Corporate Commons I and II can now do just that.

COMMONS Cafe, a non-profit eatery located off South Avenue, opened in December and serves those in the area a variety of dishes from morning to evening. One of the best parts about this new dining spot is that all profits are donated to charity.

The 1,250-square-foot cafe also has an outdoor seating area for 60 and a performance stage. It was opened by property owner and local philanthropist Richard Nicotra.

Moses Lewis of Mariners Harbor, a teacher at the John W. Lavelle Preparatory Charter School, is one of dozens employed nearby who have taken advantage of the cafe.

“This place is excellent,” he said as he waited for a cheeseburger and a side of French fries.

COMMONS Cafe’s design draws you in. Glass-fronted, this fast-and-fresh eatery contains yellow seats and boasts a clean, friendly atmosphere. On the menu are breakfast meals, sandwiches, burgers, soups, fries, desserts, salads and more.
