Sandy Fundraising Dinner Held In Staten Island

More than 900 people, including some famous faces, attended a Hurricane Sandy relief dinner on Staten Island Wednesday.

Actors Steve Buscemi and Tony Danza joined local residents at the event.

Cast members of the Broadway show “Wicked” also performed.

All proceeds went to the Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Richard Nicotra, who owns the Hilton Garden Inn, donated the venue and food.

Nicotra said he held a similar event after Hurricane Katrina, and now, he hopes to help people in his own hometown.

“We only thought it appropriate that we do the same thing for our own people, our own neighbors, and that’s why we’re doing this tonight,” Nicotra said.

“The people that were hurt the most are the ones that are trying to help the most,” said Frank Siller of the Siller Towers to Towers Foundation.

The Siller Foundation said the event raised more than $100,000.
